FAQs
Question: When opened, worksheets present with errors. What’s wrong?
Nothing major. The majority of worksheets in the Random Masters collection use functions loaded with the Analysis Toolpak in Microsoft Excel. If hash symbols (########) appear in worksheet cells, the Analysis Toolpak may not be loaded properly. Just follow the instructions on in Tutorial 1 - Setting Up Your System, available on the home page, to load the Analysis Toolpak.
Question: Why don’t hyperlinks between worksheets work properly?
Some worksheets have multiple pages within the same worksheet, with hyperlinks to move between them. If Random Masters worksheets are opened within the Internet Explorer browser, these do not function properly (not sure why). There are two solutions to this problem. Either use the worksheet tabs at the bottom of the screen to move between sheets, or alternately alter the settings in “My Computer” to have worksheets opened by Excel rather than within the browser. Instructions for this are shown in Tutorial 1 - Setting Up Your System, available on the home page. The latter permanently solves the problem.
Question: Can the Random Masters website be accessed from via a school network?
School subscriptions to the Random Masters website allow for access from any internet connected computer in the school. There is no restriction to the number of on-site computers that can be used access the website.
Question: Can students access the program?
Though the Random Masters website was originally designed to assist
teachers in creating resources to be used in their classroom, students
can use the program to create their own worksheets. A number of schools
have utilised the program in this way – students access the site from
the school computer lab and print worksheets for revision, homework or
extension work.
Question: If the school is licenced to access the Random Masters website, can individual teachers access the website from their home computers?
School subscriptions allow only for access on site. If schools wish to allow teachers to access the materials off site, please contact us and we will negotiate a suitable rate depending on the number of off-site subscriptions requested. Alternately, teachers may choose to purchase an individual subscription which can be accessed by them at any time, irrespective of location.
Question: What do I do if I find an error in a worksheet?
Every effort was made to ensure that worksheets were produced error free. However, some minor errors may have slipped through. These can be reported via a link in the members section of the website. We’ll correct the error and upload the corrected version to the website.
Question: What if I can’t find the worksheet I need?
If we haven’t covered a particular skill in the Random Masters collection, a custom made worksheet can be requested via our website. We will endeavour to create a worksheet to suit your needs and add it to the website. New worksheets are always under development.
